TLDR: I get work by lying!
The Real Story
A series of trauma and depression left me demented. And my income was directly affected by the same. I was no longer the person I was. There was no work. No friends. And I kept it under the radar for my family.
I needed something, someone to vent out my feelings. At that time, I found Quora.
I wore a mask “Anna Wrobel” to relieve my soul, as writing was the only thing I could do. My grammar was flawed and I used to make a lot of mistakes, so I signed up as “Anna Wrobel” from Romania.
One fine day, messaged me, saying I write well. That gave me some confidence.
People loved me a lot as Anna. So I decided to go ahead and dive into professional writing, wearing the same mask.
I did that because there is a discrimination against people from developing countries. And it is completely justified. Around 80% of the freelancers have no skills, but they are desperate for money. They provide poor services and everyone has to suffer the consequences.
I earned my first $1000 as Anna on Fiverr
I had 100% positive ratings there.
When I deleted my profile on Quora, I closed my account on Fiverr too, and I told them, I was a fake.
Surprisingly, 90% of them forgave me.
Most of my work came from the same clients and their reference, as they trusted me.
This is a cliché, but my honesty has got me work. Though my name was fake, my work was honest and it is. Today, I get work from all over the world just by reference.
Recently, one of my clients told me “He’s working with me because he believes in me”.
I share a bond with everyone I have worked with. I work on every project as if it is my own, and I always give an honest opinion even when I know I could lose work.
In a nutshell, business is done between people. And if you have a strong bond, a trusting relationship with your clients, you’ll never run out of work!
